Today in Nigerian History: 22nd June

On this day in 2015;President Muhammadu Buhari began moves to remove fuel subsidy completely.
He said that the proceeds would be used for the provision of free and compulsory primary/secondary education across the country. Watch video

Also on this day in 2014; At least 10 people were killed in raids by suspected Boko Haram gunmen on two villages near Chibok town where the Islamists abudcted more than 200 girls.
Equally on this day in 2013;National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, uncovered an illegal cosmetics manufacturing factory that specialized in producing fast moving cosmetics, particularly, complexion creams.

The factory which was originally licensed by NAFDAC to manufacture Floxvik Queen Helen Fair lotion with NAFDAC registration number: 02-6498 and Floxvik Queen Helen Shower Bath 1 with registration Number 02- 7223 was caught with packages containing cosmetics labels for unregistered Olay Goat’s Milk cream, Olay carrot and Olay lightening shower cream at National Handling and Company, NAHCO, Shed, Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. 

And on this day in 2013; Angry youths chased out the Apeju of  Ilupeju Ekiti, in Oye Local Government, Oba Olaleye Oniyelu over the installation of third in command to the monarch of the town otherwise known as Olugbosun.
During the protest which began as early as 9 am ,five houses were burnt, while the palace of the monarch was badly vandalized.
