ASUU to Elect New President- Sunday

A new national president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the body of lecturers in the universities across the federation, may emerge on Sunday.
This follows the expiration of the second term tenure of office of the outgoing executive committee led by its President, Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge, who may be handing over the baton of leadership same day.
This is even as the delegate meeting of the National Executive Committee of the union, which is currently ongoing at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, will be rounded off on Sunday.
Meanwhile, some of the stakeholders in the union have expressed optimism that the southwest region of the country may produce the new President, saying both the north and the south east regions have produced the last presidents of the union since the expiration of the tenure of office of the Philosophy lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Dipo Fashina.
